How should I prepare for an initial meeting with a business lawyer?

If you are a potential client seeking legal representation, here are some important questions you may want to ask during an initial consultation with a lawyer:

  1. What experience do you have in this area of law?

  2. What are your qualifications and credentials?

  3. What is your approach to handling cases, and what is your success rate?

  4. What is your fee structure, and how do you bill for your services?

  5. How will you communicate with me throughout the case, and how often can I expect to hear from you?

  6. What is your availability, and how quickly can you respond to my calls or emails?

  7. What potential outcomes do you foresee for my case, and what is the best and worst-case scenario?

  8. What role do you see me playing in the case, and what will be expected of me?

  9. Are there any alternatives to litigation that we should consider?

  10. What is the next step, and what should I do to prepare for it?
